So what have we been up to in October?
2nd October: The 14th Coulsdon Guides and older brownies had a great 1st Aid session learning how to deal with choking(safely able to practice with choke vests)and also CPR with all managing to complete a CPR cycle on a “little Annie”
3rd October: Thornton heath rainbows were getting ready for their flights. Passports are ready . Where do you think they will go first ?

3rd October: The Rangers have been doing the Senegal challenge. They were definitely not fans of Thiakry, enjoyed playing oware (hint, ice cube trays were easier to use than egg boxes!) and had fun doing Souwere glass painting.

6th October: Well done to the 9th Selsdon Brownies who took part in the Selsdon litter pick this weekend.

9th October: As part of the Laser Cluedo challenge we were in the kitchen this week. 36 brownies had great fun making chocolate mug cakes. And the rainbows made jam tarts. Great fun had by all.

13th October: 113 of us from Shirley descended on Tenpin Bowling at Valley Park. It’s been 18 years since we’ve enjoyed an exclusive Shirley Guiding event and as this year we celebrate 50 years of Girlguiding in Croydon, we thought it was about time to get together our amazing members and volunteers in Shirley! It was fantastic to have so many Shirley Rainbows, Brownies, Guides, Rangers and volunteers all together again. Everyone had a brilliant time which was rounded off with the leaders enjoying a well deserved meal at Frankie and Benny’s. We are grateful to Shirley Evening Townswomen Guild and the Shirley Flower Challenge Badge for so generously subsidising this event.

15th October: Last night of the Cluedo challenge at brownies tonight. Girls thoroughly enjoyed our escape room activity in the hall.

16th October: The 9th Selsdon Brownies Cluedo case of the missing chocolate cake has been solved… The girls (& adults!) worked *so* hard. There were mazes, maths puzzles, crosswords, anagrams, decoders, secret UV messages and random prop clues. All to work out who ate the cake, with what drink, where and at what time.
There was fantastic perseverance, teamwork, turn taking, support from our olders for our younger ones… a really great night!

18th October: 8th South Croydon (St.Augustine’s) Brownies took part in the virtual KSS mission ‘Restart a heart’ session with Kent Surrey Sussex Air Ambulance crews on Wednesday. They found out all about safety, ‘DR ABC’, CPR, how to use a defibrillator and to contact the emergency services. All fantastic skills for life!

18th October: A fantastic evening with Coulsdon Rangers. Pumpkin
carving.

20th October: 8th Purley Guides had a monster themed food evening. Some interesting results.

26th October: During the shoot for our new brand campaign, we gave Brownies and Guides a digital camera and told them to capture their favourite moments. The result? A celebration of a girls’ world, through their eyes.

30th October: We continued with our science theme this term with Brilliant Bubbles, Balloons, a Birthday and lots of Badges at 1st Shirley Rainbows tonight.

31st October: Something spooky went on at 1st Kenley Purley and Kenley Rainbows!

31st October: 6th Croydon Guides celebrated Diwali. Decorating candle jars, sparklers and traditional snacks.
