November and December 2024 round up

November and December have been busy! And your editor messed up the November post so decided to combine them both in a single post. Happy New Year everyone!

3rd November – Thornton Heath Rainbows ‘went’ to India to make Diyas for Diwali. What lovely weather it had. Next to Ireland to see the castles. Exhausting but loved every second.
5th November – 2nd Coulsdon Rainbows were enjoying a firewaork theme with some tasty edible sparklers.
7th November – Bonfire night at Radcliffe wide game, babygro guys, apple bobbing, choc covered apples, campfire cakes, s’mores and sparklers. A great night was had by all.
11th November – Remembering those who gave up their lives for our freedom.
15th November – Thornton Heath Rainbows had a wonderful time going to the Caribbean and having some fruit, making masks and headdresses. China was te next stop, eating sping rolls and veggie sushi and making lanterns.
15th November – 1st Shirley Guides were visited by a forensic officer. We tried out fingerprints shoe prints and wearing the barrier clothing. Followed by extracting dna from fruit.
15th November – After our trip to Ikea a few weeks ago for inspiration, 4th Shirley Guides created their own rooms…
19th November – Grace, a local ex guide, visited the 4th Shirley Rainbows to tell us about her work with Nightwatch and the homeless. We are donating selection boxes for her to give out on Christmas Eve.
27th November – Rainbows in Shirley became scientists for the night when they learnt all about magnets
4th December – Rainbows learned about the nativity and did some tree painting. The girls had so much fun.
4th December – 10 South Croydon Guides did the 12 days of Christmas challenge! A great evening of teamwork to get the challenge done in the time!
5th December – The 1st Shirley (St John’s) Rainbows did a good job making the decorations and paper chains for our tree at the Shirley Methodist Church Tree Festival.
9th December – 2nd Coulsdon Rainbows had fun making “chocolate log” cakes. Lots of chocolate icing and sprinkles washed down by hot chocolate and marshmallows.
10th December – Shirley Rangers have been working towards their Animation interest badge. You can see the animation they have created on Facebook.
13th December – It’s not just the girls that get to have all the fun in the lead up to Christmas. Leaders from across the county recently got together for an evening of wreath making, We have some very talented leaders.
16th December – Rainbows, Brownies and Guides from South Croydon took a visit to the Science Museum in London recently. It was a fantastic day with lots of interactive displays and challenges to take part in. We have some future engineers and scientists among this clever group.
