March has gone quickly and the weather is finally getting better. Here is a round up of what we were doing through the chilly days of March.

6th March – Brownies in Coulsdon recently had a Peer Education session on Breaking Free. Breaking Free focuses on challenging gender stereotypes. The session helps girls identify and challenge stereotypes so they feel empowered to enjoy their hobbies, gain skills they’re interested in and bust the restrictions that so-called ‘stereotypes’ could place on their lives.

10th March – Science week at 2nd Coulsdon Rainbows this week. Making balloon rockets was so much fun.

10th March – When the ‘Have Adventures Explore Stage 4 Conquer Contours skill builder’ met Pancake Day at a Guide unit in South Croydon. Guides created and decorated landscapes out of pancakes using maps as their guide. That’s one tasty way to learn about contour lines on maps.

16th March – At the Rainbows sleepover the girls selected a plush animal. We then discussed what they knew about them and what they’d call them, before they were challenged to create a habitat for them in their box! We had done little ‘I adopted a…’ certificate (that required a bit of research for some!) which outlined some facts such as where they lived, what they ate, conservation status etc. to give them some inspiration. This was cited as one of their favourite activities.

17th March – Thornton Heath Rainbows have been travelling the world again and this time they have end up in Haiwaii. They made some very gorgeous lei’s as modelled by Olivia and learned some of the countries traditions.
