February 2025 round up

The weather wasn’t the best in February, but that didn’t stop us from having a lot of fun in Girlguiding Croydon.

4th February – Brownies from Addiscombe took part in a money challenge with the help of The Money Charity  The Brownies got to understand the difference between Needs and Wants, the cost of everyday items and how to prioritise when faced with a budget.

12th February – To celebrate Chinese New Year, Rainbows in Thornton Heath had the chance to prepare and make delicious meal of noodles and learn all about the country.

19th February – Back in November Guides from Coulsdon took part in International Toilet Day. They raised enough money to twin their own toilet!

Guides then voted where in the world they wanted to twin their toilet with as part of their Parliament Week activity and Nepal was chosen.
Well done to all those in involved.
22nd February – We had a fantastic morning at South Norwood parkrun at our takeover event and we loved seeing everyone there.

25th February – To celebrate World Thinking Day tonight the 1st Shirley Rainbows travelled back 115 years!! We played a traditional game of the time ‘Kim’s game’, a ‘Bunnies’ Game, (the under 7’s were called that when the youngest group started in Northern Ireland in 1980). We looked at how our Rainbow promise badge has changed, at our Centenary scrap book of memories collected from the rainbows and leaders of 15 years ago. They also had lots of fun looking at the old Brownie & Guide manuals and trying on old uniform, including mine from 50 years ago, before travelling back to 2025 to give out lots of badges.
