May 2025 round up

So what have we been up to in May? Let’s find out!

9th May: The Guides made wartime cakes. Chocolate and fruit cake. Might have been better had the oven not stopped working halfway through cooking.

10th May: Units from across the county had a fantastic time at Girlguiding London & South East England May-Hem.
14th May: Congratulations to Flo who was presented with her Bronze Peer Education Badge last week at her Brownie unit! This badge is awarded to Peer Educators who have delivered four sessions, something which Flo has achieved within six months of training. Fantastic work Flo, you’re a star!
19th May: antastic evening at 8th South Croydon Brownies. Was so lovely that we could enjoy the warm weather and get outside. ‘Fizzy Fliers’, ‘Can you solve it?’ and ‘Girlguiding in a bubble’ UMAs.

21st May: Fantastic couple of weeks with the Guides completing Chop Chop (Feel Good 4).

  • Week 1: Planning, shopping lists, and making me do the food order
  • Week 2: lots of cooking, eating and washing up. We had Jerk chicken with Rice and Beans, Carbonara, and dirty fries.
We are so proud of the Guides and the skills they already have or learnt over the past couple of weeks.
22nd May: 9th Selsdon Brownies enjoyed a night of woodcraft, Camp 2 skill builders and Strike a Light UMA, lighting fires with flints, and of course s’mores. Done with the support of a Forest school qualified parent, who thoroughly enjoyed sharing his skills with the girls.
28th May: There are lots of busy washing machines in Coulsdon tonight after the Guides returned from camp!
